Why Home Care

Aging isn't easy but who says aging can't be one of the most enjoyable times in your life. Everyone has the right to experience their golden years with lots of laughs and joy. And if you are one of the family members you want the freedom while ensuring security and well being of your loved ones. We understand the challenges that stem from caring for, or ensuring care for, a loved one. Piedmont Companion Care is determined to help achieve these goals. Home Care provides the ability to remain in the comfort of your home while receiving care and ensuring safety. Piedmont Companion Care strives on its motto: “The best care is homecare“.

As a person begins to age, family members are often called on to help with everyday things that their loved one now finds challenging- meal preparation, laundry and housekeeping. Eventually, many people find themselves assisting their loved ones in ways they never expected. At Piedmont Companion care we understand that caregiving for a loved one can take its toll on caregivers and it can change family dynamics. We also understand that many people find themselves hundreds or thousands of miles away from a loved one who needs care, which can become highly stressful. That is when you would want someone as close as family to relieve your stress and provide the required care and assistance for your loved one.

If you think you may need help, we can guide you in getting both you and your loved one the assistance you deserve.

Identifying changes in needs
Aging is a series of changes that cause an individual to require assistance. There are some warnings signs which you can take note of to plan for such changes. Don't ignore the warning signs, because small things can add up to a larger challenge incredibly fast. If you notice certain changes in your loved one, it might be time to seek help:

  • Changes in behavior, habits or interest in hobbies
  • Changes in relationships with family and friends
  • Signs of forgetfulness (piles of unopened mail, unwashed laundry and/or dirty cookware)
  • Withdrawal from social interactions
  • Unusual behavior, such as increased agitation, speaking loudly or little talking at all
  • Neglecting personal care (hygiene or nutrition)
  • Forgetting to take medications, or taking overdose
  • Mismanagement of finances (incorrect checks, unpaid bills or unusual purchases)
